Barbara Serulus is a food writer for Belgian newspaper De Standaard and the Belgian magazine Knack Weekend. Her enthusiasm is fed by zealous farmers, visionary futurists and heroic food artisans.

Courses including the postgraduate programme Food Policy (City University London) and YFM Academy (Amsterdam; now SFYN) have honed her knowledge regarding sustainable food.

Barbara is co-founder of Alle Dagen Honger (Hungry Every Day), a culinary project studio that addresses a variety of food issues through a wide range of projects and events. One of these projects was the creation of a book showcasing the stories of exceptional artisans, De Helden van het Echte Eten (The Heroes of Real Food, published by Luster, Antwerp); another was the organisation of the Krachtvoer food festival. Her most recent book is Fizz (Bis Publishers, Amsterdam), a handbook for anyone who wants to ferment alcohol-free, healthy drinks.

She’s the editor-in-chief of the independent food magazine Tummie, a printed bi-annually publication, that combines stories, recipes and art from chefs, scientists, writers, illustrators, bartenders and farmers from The Netherlands and Belgium. Tummie magazine is a cross-border collaboration with the Dutch culinary illustrator Elise van Iterson.
